Ferritin ( 1 ) | Rs .520 |

Ferritin is an intracellular protein, first isolated in 1937, which functions as the human body’s store-house of iron. It is responsible for the sequestration, storage and release of iron, is known to play a role in mucosal absorption of iron and acts as a ‘buffer” against iron deficiency and overload. It is found in most mammalian tissues, and a small amount of it is present in serum. The amount of ferritin present in plasma indicates the total iron reserves in the body; thus making ferritin a significant diagnostic parameter. Ferritin Test Cost is given above.
