Beta Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Hormone (beta HCG) also called as “the pregnancy hormone” is a sialogycoprotein hormone. It is a subunit of Human Gonadotropin Hormone (hCG) which is an excellent marker for pregnancy. hCG is produced shortly after the fertilized ovum adheres to the placenta. The trophoblastic cellsof placenta are responsible for this production. The beta part of hCG is useful in determining the immunochemical and biological specificities.
